A fundraiser has been established to support Kirsten DeVon following the death of Voss, a transgender man who had been reported missing over the weekend.
A parent from the preschool where Kirsten and Voss worked contacted Jefferson County Dispatch News and said Voss was deeply loved by the children and families in the school community. One of their fellow teachers has since shared a fundraiser to help Kirsten during this time.
For those who have asked how they can help, the fundraiser can be found here.
Voss was found deceased after being reported missing Saturday morning.
Kirsten confirmed the news to Jefferson County Dispatch News on Tuesday after being notified by police.
An emergency response in Westminster early Tuesday morning appeared potentially connected to the search, but Jefferson County Dispatch News chose not to publish those details until Voss’s identity had been confirmed and his loved ones had been notified.
Hundreds of people shared information about Voss, watched for his vehicle and his dog, Porter, and hoped alongside those closest to him that he would be found safe.
Voss had last been heard from around 11 a.m. Saturday, when he reportedly said he was going to the store to pick up supplies for a planned camping trip.
According to Kirsten, Thornton Police told her Voss’s white Toyota Tacoma was captured by a Flock camera in Westminster at approximately 11:42 a.m. that day.
Voss was believed to have Porter, a roughly 40-pound chocolate Lab, with him.
There remains significant concern about Porter. No confirmed information about the dog’s whereabouts has been released at this time.
Voss’s disappearance prompted widespread attention from community members who shared his information and searched for any sign of him, his truck or Porter.
Behind every missing-person report is a human being with relationships, memories and people waiting for them to come home. Voss was deeply loved by his partner, family, friends, coworkers, and the children and families who knew him through the preschool where he worked.
Please continue to give Kirsten, Voss’s family, friends, coworkers and the entire community that loved him compassion and space as they grieve.
Rest in peace, Voss.
