This summer, pop superstar and Wicked actress Ariana Grande announced the official launch of a charity focused on backing small grassroots organizations that fight for LGBTQ+ rights, civil rights, and reproductive justice. Dubbed The Brighter Days Ahead Foundation, the new entity aims to expand and amplify the life-saving work of community organizations that provide rapid support and advocacy during critical moments.
Grande announced the rollout via Instagram, reflecting on her long history of personal philanthropy and her desire to build a more formal apparatus for direct-impact giving. Writing to her millions of followers, the singer states, “It has been my privilege to be able to support these causes on my own over the years, and I’m grateful to now be able to expand that reach and amplify the life-saving work that these organizations do through The Brighter Days Ahead Foundation.”
The foundation’s name appears to pay tribute to Brighter Days Ahead, the 2025 sci-fi short film Grande co-directed alongside Christian Breslauer as a visual companion piece to her 2024 hit album Eternal Sunshine. Further details outlined on the charity’s own Instagram page reveal a multi-pronged structure designed to tackle immediate crisis relief as well as long-term advocacy. Under its Emergency Support Fund, the foundation noted that recent grantees have included Humanity Crew, New York Cares, and the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, among other groups that “meet urgent moments with aid and resources, providing rapid support and relief during times of collective need.”
Additionally, the foundation features focused branches tailored to advocacy and representation. Its Seen & Celebrated Fund is dedicated to helping “ensure LGBTQ+ voices are heard and shared,” while the Protect & Defend Fund is structured to support “grassroots groups that advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, civil rights, and reproductive justice.”
Grande has a documented track record of championing queer and trans communities. In 2022, she pledged to personally match up to $1.5 million in donations for a fundraiser supporting trans youth, ultimately helping drive a total raised of over $3 million. Her latest initiative drew immediate praise across the industry, with West Side Story actor Rachel Zegler leaving a heart emoji in the post’s comments and activists from the Gender Liberation Movement publicly thanking Grande for her continued backing.
