MacKenzie McClain Hill was inspired at an early age to follow in her parents’ footsteps and start her own business. Since both of MacKenzie’s parents are entrepreneurs, and after watching them lead their lives with such flexibility, MacKenzie decided that she wanted to follow in their entrepreneurial footsteps.
“I liked that,” Hill says to another source. “I wanted to be my own boss, set the tone, set the rules, and do something that benefited others.” The athlete-turned-CEO is blazing a trail in an industry with only around 19% female and minority representation, creating well-thought-out, natural products for women to be at their authentic best.
If you’re a beauty enthusiast, you may have noticed that CBD-infused products are ubiquitous in the skincare industry. During the COVID-19 pandemic, MacKenzie began researching CBD and expanded her already existing haircare brand, LumiBloom, into the CBD-powered beauty and wellness brand it is now. It started with the CBD Hand Sanitizer Spray that quickly kills germs without harming the skin. The spray quickly sold out. More topicals, tinctures, and consumables followed as the company has steadily grown, as the world begins to understand the benefits of CBD. “As people become more familiar with CBD as a beauty agent, a wider range of beneficial products becomes available,” McClain Hill shares.
CBD (cannabidiol) is a medicinal substance that is used for pain management, relaxation, and stress relief. The internal body and our skin hold endocannabinoid receptors that trigger physiological reactions. Some of LumiBloom’s latest offerings include a revitalizing CBD bath bomb and LumiSport—the more athletic side of the brand, which focuses on pain relief and providing energy.
Now a mother herself, MacKenzie hopes to pass on a spirit of entrepreneurship and hard work to her daughter, MaLaya, while also carving an impactful path and mentoring the next generation of minority youth. “I love what I do, how I do it, and I especially love that others are happier and healthier because of it.”
