‘Golden Girls: The Laughs Continue’ Brings 80s Nostalgia to Colorado

Want to relive some 80s nostalgia? Fans of the classic sitcom The Golden Girls can catch Golden Girls: The Laughs Continue when it comes to Colorado. This professional stage show is a Golden Girls tribute show written by Robert Leleux, author of The Memoirs of a Beautiful Boy and The Living End directed by Eric Swanson, who was the co-founder and executive director of The Detroit Actors’ Theatre Company.

The production debuts in Greeley at the Union Colony Civic Center on October 18, then premieres at the Paramount Theatre in Denver on October 19 before finishing up in Colorado in Grand Junction at the Avalon Theatre on October 21.

The cast features Ryan Bernier as Dorothy, Vince Kelley as Blanche, Adam Graber as Rose, Christopher Kamm as Sophia, and Tommy Favorite as Stanley/Burt. The production is produced by Murray & Peter Present and Outback Presents.

Joni Lorraine of Broadway World says in a 2024 review, “This is a wonderfully talented cast that is unmistakably at ease with each other and an audience. They bring a fun script to life that is entertaining for both those who adore the Golden Girls, and those who don’t know them at all.”

For those uninitiated, the original Golden Girls sitcom ran from 1985 to 1992, spanning seven seasons and producing 180 episodes. The show won 68 Emmy nominations, 11 Emmy awards, 4 Golden Globe Awards, and was ranked number 54 on TV Guide’s list of the 60 Best Series of All Time.

There have been other adaptations of Golden Girls, including a puppet stage adaptation that featured all the cast members as puppets who performed classic Golden Girls moments.
