Creator Jessica Marie approaches hosting her podcast with a rare earnestness typically lost in a sea of creators and social media personalities. She told OFM that she wanted to create a podcast that women could relate to and learn from. None of that disjointed, misplaced, inspirational drivel usually cranked out by mega-rich, mega-successful stars. Just real people talking about their triumphs and tribulations, with all episodes of Marie’s podcast having the same, underlying theme: you are not alone.
The Wayfaring Jessica Podcast and Blog discusses everyday issues which women face. Some of those issues include how to navigate social activism, careers, or failures and successes. She talks to women from all walks of life—from mothers to paleontologists, to artists, and more. The discussions are real and raw, like going to a coffee shop with your most beloved friends and catching up about life.
Marie launched the podcast spring of 2021, with the country still in the grips of the coronavirus pandemic. This was still a time when many of us, like Marie, were wondering what to do and how to grow in an ever-changing landscape. She said that her struggles and failures led her to tap into her dream of creating an inclusive podcast and blog. She stated that for a while, she “struggled with feeling like a failure.”
With newfound strength and wisdom, Marie has redefined what success means to her. “Success is when you feel an inherent peace and joy, no matter where you are. One of the major lessons that I learned from 2020 was to drop the external things I thought would make me happy and to get in touch with my authenticity. You have to find joy and peace within yourself.”
That sense of joy and peace translates into every episode of The Wayfaring Jessica Podcast. Marie has created a space where women and members of the LGBTQ community can feel inspired to try new things, get curious and creative, and take lessons with them on their journeys to help them to live their best, authentic lives.
With episodes covering broad subjects like sustainability, Jessica Marie breaks down these big issues and constructs an approachable way to facilitate an effective conversation. She alleviates the overwhelming feelings typically tied to bigger issue topics that she covers. Her interviews also create the same down-to-earth vibe, as if the listener is a fly on the wall to an intimate conversation with good friends. The Wayfaring Jessica Podcast may just be the new, uplifting content you’ve been searching for.
