Misogynistic “alpha male” influencer Andrew Tate was arrested alongside his brother, Tristan Tate, in Miami on Saturday, July 19, and the internet is not letting him live it down.
While the charges are despicable enough on their own, rape and human trafficking, among others, that is not what the internet is zooming in on.
The public could tar and feather the Tate brothers for the horrifying allegations against them, but instead, they’re hitting them where it really hurts: their supposed masculinity.
The 17 new charges Tate is facing from the U.K. Crown Prosecution Service stem from reports from seven new victims who have come forward and are part of the Tate brothers’ long-running international legal saga across the U.S., Britain, and Romania, reports AP News.
When the cuffs were slapped on the MAGA supporter who preaches female submission and male dominance to the millions of boys and young men who follow him, he was wearing an outfit ripe for ridicule, and social media didn’t disappoint.
Tate was confusingly sporting a bright purple blouse, black capris, and loafers without socks. The outfit was a choice.
The internet delights in cutting the anti-LGBTQ+ influencer down to size—when a photo surfaced of Tate’s bald head, social media had a field day—and photos of this newest arrest quickly went viral.
He’s currently being ruthlessly mocked for how silly he looks in his “outfit,” especially after intrepid internet users found the exact same clothes from top to bottom being modeled by a woman on ASDA’s website.
People on social media are finding his effeminate outfit to be particularly funny because of the toxic brand of masculinity Tate has made a career out of peddling to impressionable young men.
You can view a roundup of Twitter zingers on the outfit here.
