The richest man in the world believes his trans daughter was “killed by the woke mind virus.” Let that sink in. In a July 22 podcast with right-winger Jordan B. Peterson, tech billionaire Elon Musk proved that money can’t buy intelligence. Repeatedly misgendering his child throughout the interview, his demeaning rant called gender-affirming care for minors “child mutilation and sterilization.” Musk continues to spiral downward into his hole of transphobic slander.
The interview with Peterson commenced soon after Musk’s company, X, decided to move out of California in response to new laws protecting trans students. Peterson asked Musk about his stance on gender-affirming care. The conservative influencer and psychologist himself referred to medical care for trans minors as “the worst medical and psychological malpractice I’ve ever seen anywhere,” noting that, “At least the bloody Nazis knew it was wrong and tried to hide it.”
Historically knowledgeable, emphatically flawed, Peterson alluded here to Berlin’s Institute for Sexual Research, which hosted the world’s first gender-affirming surgery.
The topic hit home for Musk. Reflecting on his daughter Vivian Jenna Wilson, he claimed he was “essentially tricked into signing documents … before I had really any understanding of what was going on.” In 2022, Wilson filed a petition for a name change because she could “no longer live with or wish to be related to (her) biological father in any way, shape, or form.” She has recently called out her father for false accusations and several anti-trans statements he made.
Angered by the idea of puberty blockers and ignorantly claiming them to be sterilization drugs, Musk went on to deadname and misgender Wilson. “They call it ‘deadnaming’ for a reason. The reason it’s called ‘deadnaming’ is because, uh, your son is dead,” he continued, explaining how the “woke mind virus” killed Wilson. With vengeance, Musk “vowed to destroy the woke mind virus after that and we’re making some progress.”
Continuing his tangent of fixated rage, Musk commented, “You’re taking kids who are obviously often far below the age of consent—almost every child goes through some kind of identity crisis, it’s just part of growing up—So it’s very possible for adults to manipulate children who have are having a natural identity crisis into believing that they are the wrong gender and that they need to be the other gender.”
To that point, a Harvard study proved that little to no minors undergo gender-affirming surgeries. Whether or not Elon Musk respects scientific studies is another conversation, though.
