Tyler Boebert, the 21-year-old son of Republican Representative Lauren Boebert of Colorado, is facing serious new legal trouble after being arrested on child exploitation charges. According to announcements made by the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office, the younger Boebert was taken into custody on a warrant stemming from alleged criminal behavior that original court records show began early in 2024.
Court documents indicate that Tyler Boebert faces three separate charges related to the sexual exploitation of a child—including counts involving enticing or inducing, intent, and videos—as well as two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Records reveal that the underlying incident allegedly began on January 1, 2024, when Boebert was 19 years old. Following his arrest, the sheriff’s office confirmed that his bond was set at $10,000, and he successfully bonded out on the same day he was processed into the Garfield County Jail. Officials noted that the investigation into the matter remains ongoing.
In the wake of the arrest, Congresswoman Lauren Boebert issued a public statement attempting to address the severe allegations brought against her child. “I love my son. We take these allegations very seriously and pray for everyone affected during this challenging time,” Boebert tells TMZ.
This recent arrest represents another installment in a series of legal difficulties for Tyler Boebert. Earlier in February, he was charged with misdemeanor child abuse without injury after he allegedly allowed his 2-year-old son to wander away from a family residence. At the time of that incident, Rep. Boebert addressed the situation publicly by telling local Colorado news outlet KUSA that “a kind woman quickly and safely secured him, and authorities were called as a precaution.”
In February 2024, Tyler Boebert was arrested by the Rifle Police Department in connection with a multi-property theft and vehicle trespass ring. That case eventually led to a trial involving 22 criminal counts which featured four felony counts of criminal possession of identification documents, a felony count of conspiracy, and more than 15 additional misdemeanor and petty charges. Notably, that arrest took place approximately two months after the conduct at the center of the current child exploitation investigation is alleged to have started.
The serious allegations against her son stand in stark contrast to Rep. Boebert’s public political rhetoric as a prominent conservative lawmaker who frequently speaks out on issues concerning children. Historically, the congresswoman has drawn sharp attention for criticizing LGBTQ+ visibility while framing her platform as a defense of youth safety. During an interview with CPR News in 2022, Boebert previously declared, “What I’ve criticized is the sexualization of our children. And I’ve criticized men dressing up as caricatures of women.” As her son’s case moves forward in court, public scrutiny surrounding both his ongoing legal saga and the congresswoman’s public family image continues to intensify.
