Inside Denver 2026 PrideFest: Celebrating Pride on the New 16th Street Mall

Alissha RBy Alissha RJuly 24, 20263 Mins Read

Denver PrideFest returned with a new backdrop as the 16th Street Mall hosted the celebration for the first time. From live performances to local vendors and family activities, downtown came alive with Pride.

With Civic Center Park under construction, this year’s festival introduced visitors to a new layout stretching along the 16th Street Mall.

Spanning multiple blocks along the 16th Street Mall, Denver PrideFest offered a full day of entertainment, community, and celebration, with each area bringing its own unique experience.

The celebration started before the first performance. Guests joined a live DJ, drag performers, and entertainers on the Main Stage for an exclusive pre-show dance party.

As the celebration continued, the main stage came alive with dazzling performances that kept thousands of festival-goers cheering throughout the afternoon. Bold choreography, vibrant costumes, and infectious energy transformed the heart of downtown Denver into a celebration of music, self-expression, and Pride.

Leaving the main stage behind, visitors found music around nearly every corner of Denver’s 16th Street Mall. At the PlayHaus West Saloon, a rotating lineup of local DJs kept the music flowing beneath colorful streamers, giving festivalgoers another place to dance, relax, and enjoy Pride beyond the main stage.

Continuing along the 16th Street Mall, visitors arrived at Absolut Dance World, where another stage pulsed with music throughout the afternoon. DJs, performers, and enthusiastic crowds transformed the space into a lively dance party, proving there was always another celebration waiting just around the corner.

Around the next corner, the Latin Stage welcomed festivalgoers with lively music and colorful performances. Each act brought another burst of energy to the festival, drawing spectators together to celebrate culture, community, and Pride.

Just beyond the festival stages, the Family Area welcomed visitors of all ages with activities designed for children and families. Alongside colorful vendor booths and interactive activities, families gathered for bilingual storytime presented by the Denver Preschool Program and Drag Queen Storytime hosted by Shirley Delta Blow.

Beyond the performances and activities, PrideFest belonged to the people who filled its streets. Friends reunited, families explored together, couples celebrated openly, and countless visitors expressed themselves through colorful outfits, handmade signs, glitter, flags, and smiles. Around every corner, the festival reflected the many identities and stories that make up Colorado’s LGBTQ+ community and its allies.

Returning to the Main Stage, another standout performance had festivalgoers laughing, cheering, and singing along. Wearing a dress that read “Always Fight 4 LGBTQ Rights,” the performer timed the reveal of a seemingly endless chain of plastic bags with the repeated “plastic bag” lyric from Katy Perry’s Firework. As the crowd erupted with laughter and applause, the performer stepped onto the speakers at the front of the stage, closing the distance between performer and audience for one more unforgettable moment.

From live music and vibrant performances to family activities, community spaces, and countless moments of connection. Denver PrideFest once again transformed downtown Denver into a celebration of visibility, acceptance, and joy. As festival-goers continued to explore the 16th Street Mall, the spirit of Pride could be found in every performance, every conversation, and every smile. Proving that while the stages may draw the crowds, it is the people who truly make Pride unforgettable.
