Over the weekend, American actress Chloë Grace Moretz tied the knot with her longterm partner, model, Kate Harrison. Known for her work in the Kick Ass franchise, the 2013 Carrie reboot, and The Miseducation of Cameron Poe, Moretz has been privately dating her now-wife since 2018.
According to Queerty, Moretz confirmed in 2022 that she was in a long-term relationship, but didn’t elaborate further. Later, in 2024, the actress publicly came out in an Instagram post where she proudly declared that she voted for Kamala Harris. She states, “I believe in the need for legal protections that protects the LGBTQ+ community as a gay woman.”
On January 1 of this year, Moretz and Harrison posted photos on Instagram of their engagement rings, confirming that they were getting hitched.
Following in line with current queer wedding trends, Moretz stunned in a baby blue, Louis Vuitton dress combined with her reception outfit where she donned a cowboy hat. Moretz broke several traditional wedding conventions. Both Moretz and Harrison’s wedding dresses and after-party outfits were custom-made by Nicholas Ghesquière, the Artistic Director of Women’s Collections at Louis Vuitton.
Moretz shared some lovely words with Vogue about what she was most looking forward to in marrying Harrison, “We’ve been together for almost seven years, and making this promise to each other in a new way, and exchanging these vows, I think it’s important to just stay every day choosing each other … I think it’s important and could be life-changing for a lot of people who get to watch this video and be a part of our day a little bit.”
This extravagant display of queer love is a reminder in these troubling times of how beautiful queerness is. Despite the recent attempts at banning gay marriage, we won’t be scared into silence. It’s worth the fear and uncertainty, all of the pain and complexities. We will keep loving each other loudly, and passionately, and there is nothing that can stop us.
