Meadowlark Tattoo is a private, custom-only tattoo studio in Fort Collins, Colorado owned and operated by trans and queer artist and activist Cei Lambert (he/him/his). Cei began his tattoo career somewhat later in life after working in public health running the transgender health clinic at Fenway Health and as a program manager for the National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center, plus all the other jobs a millennial has after getting a degree.
Cei returned to his home state of Colorado eager to try and make a life as a tattoo artist and did his apprenticeship at 30 despite significant stigma and industry confusion. Cei worked at a regular tattoo shop for a short while before he knew he wanted something more.
Meadowlark Tattoo was founded as a safer and calmer alternative to many traditional tattoo studios, and Cei’s goal is for every client to feel seen, safe, and supported in their tattoo journey as it intersects with identity and self-expression. The studio is private and appointment-only to ensure every client gets the attention they deserve with no interruptions and to create a safe and healing-centered environment.
Cei brings a wonderfully diverse background to his tattooing work, including a BS in Wildlife Biology, a BFA and MFA in fine art, and a prior career in public health focused on transgender health and LGBTQIA+ health access. Meadowlark Tattoo is a culmination of everything Cei has learned about trauma-informed and healing-centered practice, fine art, technical draughtsmanship, and personal expression.
For his subject matter, Cei’s work focuses on black and grey nature themes, and he particularly loves tattooing birds, botanicals, and insects (and he’ll never say no to a good dragon or gryphon.) Meadowlark Tattoo celebrates all bodies, all identities, all skin, and all journeys. Reach out and start your tattoo journey today!
