Yves Navant, Writer & Artist, to Read at the Tattered Cover

Yves Navant

On November 19 at the Tattered Cover, Yves Navant—writer, illustrator, and all around rebel—will give a talk on his new book, 13:The Astonishing Lives Of The Nueromantics.

As our own Cecelia Blue wrote in reviewing Navant’s latest work, “13 presents a world marred by harsh class divisions and strict social repression. The upper classes buy and sell parts of the underprivileged, treating them like scrap for minor vanity boosts to their egos. Here, sexuality is cold and controlled, a functional cog in a machine, without echoes of love, affection, or humanity. The book is the journey of an underdog struggling to find his stolen arms and himself, exploring the meaning of humanity on the way. In a world where sex itself has become a rebellious act—a delivery system for faith and spirituality, accessing the divine through lust—13 is a story of rebellion by accident, and revolution by necessity.”

Navant is also the author of the award-nominated The Many Deaths of Kristian 13, which follows the novel’s protagonist and anti-hero, Kristian 13, as he navigates the “neon wastelands of American Youth.”

The talk will start at 7:00 p.m. at the E Colfax location, where Navant will speak on his new book, queer identity, and breaking into the world of comics as a queer illustrator.

While this is not a signing event, Navant encourages readers to bring a copy of his book, which he will generously sign.
