VIBE Gym will be livening up the Sunnyside neighborhood of Denver tomorrow with their “Vibe On Purpose” event taking place on September 27 on the street right outside of the gym space. The event features a wellness market and block party to benefit Align with Purpose Community. Founded by Sarah Naomi Jones, Align with Purpose is a Black- and queer-led project that works to create spaces of healing and liberation.
Jones fashioned the organization after her grandmother, Gramma Dorothy, and her welcoming kitchen table. “Her table was where you knew you could fall apart and still be held,” Jones shares. “Through Align with Purpose, I’m carrying that spirit forward—creating spaces where Black and queer experiences are not only centered but celebrated.”
The event will include wellness classes and healing sessions, including yoga, sound baths, acu-detox, song circle, and more; a silent disco with The Joyset; free n/a drinks with food including grilled vegan and beef burgers; a market for local artisans, healers, and other vendors; door prizes and giveaways; and a special guest appearance from Denver Loves Goats. There will be something for everyone, whether you want to shop, check out resources, or bond with cute animals.
“This event is about more than wellness,” says Jones regarding this coming Saturday. “It’s about remembering we are part of something bigger than survival. It’s about building the spaces our elders dreamed of and our children deserve.”
The funds raised for Align with Purpose will help expand their homebase, WOMBhouse, into a fully accessible hub with an ADA-compliant bathroom to ensure that elders and those with disabilities have access to AWP’s programs and services. So make your way down to VIBE Gym for the event tomorrow because it promises to be a blast for a good cause.
