Lushus La’Rell Hosts Drag Queen Brunch to Boost Denver’s Gay Games 2030 Bid
The Gay Games Denver 2030 Bid Committee (GGDEN), a 501(c)(3) organization, is currently driven to bring the Gay Games to the Mile High City in 2030. To assist in raising money, A Sing-Along Drag Queen Brunch hosted by Miss International Royal Pride 2025 Lushus La’Rell, winner of Miss Gay Colorado, will take place on October 18 at Charlie’s Denver at 11:00 a.m. Along with fundraising for GGDEN, the brunch serves as a send-off party for the organization as they travel to Valencia, Spain, the site of the 2026 Gay Games, for final presentations at the end of October, in which the 2030 Gay Games presumptive host will be announced.
Since 1982, The Gay Games has been a place for athletes open to all regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, religion, nationality, ethnic origin, athletic or artistic ability, age, physical challenge, or health status to compete through sport. The selection process began with 25 cities and has now been narrowed down to Denver and Perth, Australia.
Information about Denver’s bid for the Gay Games is housed on the Visit Denver website and references why Denver is the right city for the event by stating, “Denver is a city that champions equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging. We also offer a unique blend of urban energy and outdoor adventure, backed by a vibrant, integrated LGBTQIA2S+ community and a deep commitment to safety, making us the ideal choice to host this powerful global event and inspire meaningful change.”
The city has fully invested to winning the bid with events throughout the city, including Arvada, and hosted Federation of Gay Games (FGG) official site inspectors to vet the proposed venues that would play host to 36 sporting events and a full slate of cultural events. July 15 was officially declared “Federation of Gay Games Day” with the band Dear Marsha teaming up with GGDEN called “One Pride” to write a song explaining “the unifying spirit of Denver’s bid and its ability to bring the LGBTQ+ community together through sport, culture and song,” according to GGDEN2030.
