ICE Responds to Chappell Roan’s ‘Fuck ICE Forever’

Chappell Roan

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) responded after lesbian pop princess Chappell Roan called out ICE at her recent concert.

According to Them, while performing at the Pasadena Rose Bowl in Los Angeles last Friday, Roan addressed the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids happening throughout the city. She claimed LA was “the city that took care of me,” adding that it’s her “duty to take care of it. ”

“Fuck ICE forever,” Roan stated, followed by roaring cheers from the audience. She shook her head in dismay, repeating, “Fuck ICE.”  After experiencing a bit of controversy after some politically ambiguous statements on social media in 2024, Roan has consciously become more outspoken about politics, having used her time on stage after winning the Grammy for Best New Artist this past February to advocate for record companies to provide healthcare to their music artists.

ICE responded to Roan’s message, clearly not enjoying being called out for their inhumane treatment of immigrants. DHS’s assistant secretary of public affairs, Tricia McLaughlin says to TMZ, “Pink Pony Club is good. Pedophiles are bad. That’s who we’re getting off of our streets. Get a grip.”

Despite the statement against Roan, a study in June from the Cato Institute found that out of the 204,297 individuals detained since October 1, 2024, 65% had no criminal convictions, and more than 93% had never been convicted of violent crimes.

McLaughlin had a similarly outraged response after Hacks actress Hannah Einbinder’s Emmys speech: “Go Birds, fuck ICE, and free Palestine!” McLaughlin says to TMZ that anti-ICE rhetoric like Einbinder’s “(inpire) violence against our ICE law enforcement” and claimed that there was a 1000% increase in violence against ICE—which has not been proven by any reputable data.

ICE has continued to attack major cities in the United States, and Denver is no exception. If you or anyone else you know is in need of help regarding what to know and do if ICE comes to your door, a good place to start is the Colorado Immigration Advocates.
