Elon Musk’s Trans Daughter Speaks Out About His Biography

Vivian Jenna Wilson, Musk’s trans daughter, took to Threads this past week to call out her characterization in Walter Isaacson’s 2023 biography Elon Musk. 

After Musk said his daughter was “killed by the woke mind virus” on a right-wing podcast in July, Wilson has been vocal about his failures as a father and in his depictions of her in the media. He has constantly mischaracterized her, saying she was “gay and slightly autistic,” to which she replied on Threads that he had completely made up the “childhood signs” he was listing. 

Wilson recently took to Threads once again to discount her father’s depiction of her, this time to speak against her portrayal in his biography Elon Musk, written by Walter Isaacson in 2023. She explained that the way in which Isaacson depicted her as the “villain backstory-origin to excuse or explain away (Musk’s) behavior” was “genuinely defamatory.”  

In the biography, Isaacson claims that it is Wilson’s choice to transition that launched Musk into a far-right spiral. “When Musk found out, he was generally sanguine, but then she became a fervent Marxist and rejected him. His disagreements with (Vivian), he says, “became intense when she went beyond socialism to being a full communist and thinking that anyone rich is evil,” Isaacson writes. 

Wilson rejected this claim, writing that Isaacson depicted it “as if (her) whole existence was nothing but an inconvenience to HIM. God bless the poor soul who abused his child, that must be so fucking hard for him.” She also explained that she was never contacted or interviewed for this biography, despite Isaacson claiming that he reached out to her through family members. His lack of research in terms of her side of the story is incredibly clear, just from the fact that he uses an incorrect chosen name for her in the biography.

“I am not letting this narrative continue any further,” Wilson writes in conclusion.
