DON’T MISS: NoCo Disability Pride at Full Expression!

Erin McCormacBy Erin McCormacSeptember 12, 20252 Mins Read

Queer dance studio Full Expression! is hosting an advocacy, art, community, and love event on Saturday, September 20 from 2 to 8 p.m. Full Expression! is a Fort Collins based collective dedicated to creating a safe space for all individuals through movement, community, and learning. Their Advocacy in The Arts program has been essential to their collective since its founding in June 2023.

Working with the organizations, Cripple Punk Alliance and SPLASH NoCo, Full Expression! founder, Savannah Svoboda was quoted in a press release stating, “It’s a privilege to be partnering with NoCo community leaders that are actively pushing back against the targeted attacks on the arts, those with disabilities, and the LGBTQIA+ community.”

Cripple Punk Alliance is a Fort Collins based organization dedicated to making the world more accessible to disabled individuals. Peter Bachland, founder of Cripple Punk Alliance, in the same press release, stated, “Disability Pride at Full Expression! aims to uplift disabled queer artists and demonstrate what futures are possible through collective liberation.” They are closely involved with other disability organizations in Colorado, just a few months ago, they participated in an disabled Artist Takeover at the Denver Art Museum.

SPLASH NoCo’s Executive Director Kimberly Chambers shared a similar sentiment, that “as an LGBTQIA+ youth organization, we stand among and alongside disabled members of our community in affirming that every young person deserves to belong, connect, and thrive in spaces where all of their identities are celebrated.” SPLASH NoCo’s programming provides protective factors against queer youth homelessness, self-harm, suicide, and substance abuse through connecting young people to essential resources.

The event will feature captivating educational discussions, live music, dance, and drag, performed by artists from across Colorado. Food will be provided to ticket holders by the mouthwatering, veteran owned, local Bigglesworth Sausage Party post-performances.

Space is limited, so make sure to RSVP on their website to not miss out on this amazing celebration of disabled, queer artists in Northern Colorado!
