Denver to Host ‘Under the Influencer’ Screening, AI Filmmaking Workshop in October

AI is currently a hot topic of conversation, especially in the entertainment industry. Those wanting to learn about how it will affect the future of filmmaking should check out the Under the Influencer and Innovative AI Filmmaking Workshop. The workshop takes place on Friday, October 10 and Saturday, October 11 at the Denver Sie Film Center to bring “together community, creativity, and conversation at the intersections of art, technology, and identity.”

Black Pride Colorado, Denver Film, and BLQ are presenting the event and say in a press release, “This event is about more than film—It’s about sparking conversation on who gets to create, whose stories are valued, and how we hold space for Black queer communities in every corner of culture,” says Dr. tara jae, founder of YouthSeen and Black Pride Colorado. “We’re excited that BLQ will bring a project like Under the Influencer to Denver where art and activism meet on-screen and in community.”

On Friday, the acclaimed thriller Under the Influencer will screen at 6:30 p.m., following a 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. meet and greet. Then, after the screening, the audience will be able to ask questions at 8:00 p.m. with members of the film’s creative team: producer Jill Bennett, actor/editor/technical director Lauren Neal, and actor Joy Sunday (Netflix’s Wednesday).

Under the Influencer, created by an all-queer, all-female core team, is a tense drama about art, identity, and exploitation. It is the first completed feature from Fair Play Films, a new low-budget production initiative.

On Saturday, the event concludes with a hands-on filmmaking workshop featuring AI Filmmaking for People Who Hate AI Filmmaking, led by Lauren Neal. Running 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., the workshop explores how emerging AI tools can amplify human creativity rather than replace it.

Neal will be hosting the AI Filmmaking for People Who Hate AI Filmmaking Workshop and invites those who attend, “to discover how AI filmmaking can be playful, collaborative, and rooted in physical performance.”
