OFM Mourns Local Hairstylist Jax Gratton

Micah HowellBy Micah HowellJune 11, 2025Updated:March 12, 20262 Mins Read

OFM was sad to hear of the passing of Jax Gratton. Gratton went missing April 15 and was found dead June 6 in Lakewood. Jax’s Mother Cherilynne Gratton-Camis shared the news on social media June 7. The coroner’s office still has yet to determine a cause of death. The Lakewood police department is working with the Denver police department on an investigation and labeling it as a “suspicious death.” As the investigation continues, our thoughts are with Jax’s family, loved ones, and all those mourning her loss.

“Jax Gratton was a light—I know that. She lit up so many lives just by being herself. Unapologetically. Fiercely. Fully. I see her in every act of love and strength you’ve shown, and I wish peace, love, and protection for all of you.” Gratton-Camis says. “I hope for a world that’s safer—for me, for my children, and for all of us who are connected by care and compassion.”

On June 9, members of the community gathered to honor the life of Jax at the City and County Building in Denver, followed by a rosary service at Highlands Methodist Church. Friends and family shared statements in remembrance of Jax. A GoFundMe has been created to celebrate a beautiful life and to support the family during this difficult time.

Now more than ever, it’s essential for us to continue standing up and fighting for the rights, safety, and dignity of the transgender community. We will never stop fighting for Jax—and for all those like her—to live safe, joyful, and affirmed lives.

Please remember: you are not alone. If you are impacted in any way, shape, or form, know that your experience is valid, your feelings matter, and support is available.
