The Chicago Sky hosted the Indiana Fever at the United Center on July 27. OFM had the opportunity to photograph this rivalry’s match up in Chicago. The game drew a franchise-record crowd of 19,601 fans and it was the second-ever WNBA game at the United Center.
The Fever defeated the Sky with a 93-78 win as both Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese watched from the sidelines due to injury. Kelsey Mitchell scored a season high 35 points.
This is the league’s 29th season. On June 30, the W announced three new cities for its expansion plan (18 teams by 2030): Cleveland, Detroit, and Philadelphia.
Historically, Denver had not been home to a single professional women’s team until this year. The city landed its first professional women’s rugby team with the WER Denver Onyx in 2025, which won the league’s Legacy Cup. In 2026, the city will be the home to the NWSL Denver Summit FC, which broke an NWSL record with more than 10,000 season ticket deposits!
In January of 2025, the PWHL stopped in Denver during their Takeover Tour. This game had a record-setting crowd of 14,018 at Ball Arena in Denver. It’s clear that Denver loves sports, and even more so women’s sports. Denver’s ready for more. To the WNBA & PWHL I ask, are you ready for Denver?
