White Supremacist Indicted for Plotting Hate Crimes

Matthew Allison, a 37-year-old man, has been indicted following a lawsuit which accuses him of having a hand in transnational plot to not only kill lawmakers but also to commit hate crimes.

Allison, who is from Boise, Idaho, is alleged to be a part of a white supremacist group that targets Black, Jewish, immigrant, and queer communities. Groups such as these reinforce the need for protection in order to ensure that those in our beloved communities are not harmed any more than we already have been.

“Today’s arrests are a warning that committing hate-fueled crimes in the darkest corners of the internet will not hide you, and soliciting terrorist attacks from behind a screen will not protect you,” says U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland. “The United States Department of Justice will find you, and we will hold you accountable.”

Allison allegedly had the help from a California man named Dallas Humber. Both Allison and Humber allegedly planned and executed an attack at a bar in Slovakia. It resulted in two victims. Along with this, the indictment also says they also executed an attack in a Turkish mosque which killed five. U.S. authorities foiled an additional attack planned on a energy facility in New Jersey.

Both Allison and Humber face over 15 felony charges for their actions. These charges will include conspiracy, hate crimes, instructing others on how to make bombs, and supporting terrorism through providing materials.

To make matters even more scary, it is reported that the social messaging app Telegram was used heavily in order to plan these threats and share conspiracy theories. Allegedly, these plots plague the app, making it a harmful environment and giving it the moniker “Terrorgram.”

“The defendants encouraged murders and hate crimes to individuals based on their race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, and gender identity,” says Garland. “They also exposed personal information and called for the assassination of federal officials, conspired to offer material support to terrorists, and disseminated information about explosives with the intent to facilitate acts of violence.”

If justice is served, both Allison and Humber will be hit with a hefty 220 years in prison. This sentence will be the maximum allowed by the courts. We can only hope that the justice system makes the correct choice.
