Wet For Her Provides Inclusivity to Sex Toy Industry

Often viewed as a male dominated world with products catering to heterosexual couples and straight women, Alice Derock made it her mission to change how LGBTQ people are represented in the sex toy industry.

In 2009, she founded Wet For Her (WFH), a lesbian- and queer- focused sex toy company.

“I was disappointed to discover that the sex toy industry did not have many pleasure products aimed at same-sex female couples,” she says. “Although there were a variety of sex toys for women on the market and there is some crossover, there didn’t seem to be many specifically aimed at lesbians or queer women. This inspired me to start designing and manufacturing more inclusive sex toys, which I continue to do today.”

With the intention to not look flesh-tone or realistic, all toys are made of 100 percent medical grade silicone, ensuring the product is phthalate-free while providing a silky texture that is easy to clean and maintain. Some of the company’s top selling items include the Fusion Strap-On Dildo the RockHer Scissoring Vibrator.

WFH has grown exponentially over the years and is constantly shifting to meet the needs of the LGBTQ community. Recently, the company launched a line of toys specifically designed for transgender, nonbinary, intersex, and gender non-conforming folks.

According to Derock, the inspiration behind the product expansion came from the fact that WFH has the Pride flag in its branding.

“We are all under the same flag, so I think we should not divide our family any more than it already is,” she says. “For a long time, I have wanted to bring gender-affirming products for trans women and trans men, but I wanted to do it the right way. I didn’t want to just put out products and not know what they are, what they do, or why people will like them.”

Derock is working with a sex toy professional who is trans, perfecting the products so that they are empowering and affirming for everyone.

Additionally, as the holiday season quickly approaches, Derock also created a Coming Out Box Set, an ideal Christmas gift for anyone who just came out of the closet and embodied their true identity. The lovingly curated set includes two pairs of Pride socks, a rainbow flag, a set of eight Pride pins, a notebook filled with quotes that inspired 50 years of Pride, and a dildo sex toy.

“It’s a ‘welcome to the family’ kit,” Derock explains. “We thought it would be quite funny to have a coming out box for folks that came out of the closet and to prepare them for what is coming next that they might not be aware of already. It’s the perfect way to show a queer family member or friend you support who they truly are.”

As for the future, Derock says she hopes to continue reaching out to as many lesbian couples and queer people as possible.

“I want these women to know that we are here, and we are a LGBTQ inclusive company,” she says. “You can also expect some cool, new products in 2022.”
