WATCH: Alex Newell gives us fashion and vocals in new video

If you remember Glee, then you probably remember Ryan Murphy’s affinity to find young talent and putting them on the show. This was apparent when he launched The Glee Project, and pulled young adults from all over to compete for a role on his show. Now, the Glee Project bombed. Sure, it garnered attention, but the show wasn’t that great. What it did was introduce us to Alex Newell.

Alex Newell stole our hearts from the second he stepped on the stage and delivered powerful vocals and an undeniable amount confidence. Although he didn’t win, Alex still landed a role on Glee playing a trans student Unique. And for lack of a better word, he was phenomenal.

Since the show ended, Alex has been planning his pop take over one incredible cover after another. He released his EP, which is amazing, a neon inspired video for This Ain’t Over, and now a video for Basically Over You (B.O.Y.), which features the gorgeous Nyle DiMarco from America’s Next Top Model.
