Update: One Colorado’s Ally Awards are Moving Online

One Colorado announced this year’s date for The Ally Awards will be Saturday, September 26, but this year, they’re going virtual. The Ally Awards is an annual, fundraising event, and while this year’s livestream is free to attend, there will be several options to donate, and all proceeds go to One Colorado’s Education Fund. This year’s honorees are the Colorado Lawyers Committee, Dr. Nita Mosby Tyler, and Katherine Archuleta. The virtual gala and ceremony will be held from noon until 2:00 pm.

This year is an important milestone because it marks the tenth anniversary since One Colorado was founded. The ceremony will be an elegant virtual space to honor the past decade of progress for LGBTQ Coloradans and their families. The Ally Awards were previously scheduled to be hosted at the Four Seasons Hotel Denver in August, but in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, the celebration has been restructured to fit an online platform. The event will be made up of interactive programming and entertainment as well as community engagement that abides by social distancing.

There are currently three tiers of donations open for anyone planning to contribute, supporter ($50), Ally ($100), and Host ($500). Each tier has its own set of swag provided by One Colorado in the form of apparel, care packages, and more. One Colorado uses the awards ceremony as an opportunity for LGBTQ Coloradans to honor the commitment of allies who have been a voice for LGBTQ equality. This year, the honorees have been chosen due to their continued dedication to altruistic endeavors, inclusion, and philanthropy.
