UN Acknowledges Trans Lesbians and Receives a Wave Of Hate
The UN has inadvertently stirred up a flurry of hatred after making a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, that recognized trans lesbians as being just as valid in their identity as cis lesbians.
Lesbian Day of Visibility was October 8, and the UN made a very lovely post to celebrate it. In the post, they celebrated trans lesbians specifically.
Remember, trans lesbians are lesbians too.
Let’s uplift and honour EVERY expression of love and identity!

A beautiful post such as this, although a little corporate feeling, is not at all a bad statement. Much in the same way that anyone who identifies as a woman is a woman, anyone who identifies as a lesbian is a lesbian. There are nonbinary and trans male lesbians, and they are just as valid as trans and cis women lesbians. Lesbians are valid, no matter their gender identity or expression.
Unfortunately, a bunch of bigots saw this post and absolutely lost their collective minds. Notable bigots from all over the internet flocked to the post and left nasty comments and quote tweets. While it is entertaining that they think their opinion on others’ lives matters to begin with, this wave of hate is a stark reminder of the changes made to Twitter after Elon Musk purchased the platform.
Twitter, now known as X, is little more than a cesspit of bigotry and hate, with small beacons of positivity sporadically littered through the explore page. Ever since the advent of purchasable verification, anyone can use the platform as they see fit, regardless of whether they are spreading misinformation or hate speech. Although it is a far better source for news and pop-culture as compared to Facebook, the treatment of marginalized communities and groups is atrocious.
