Trump Claims No Knowledge of Far Right Platform Project 2025
In case you haven’t turned on the news recently, the far right is planning to circumvent the rule of law and every form of checks and balances, to establish what is effectively a one-party system. Former President and convicted felon Donald Trump is the figurehead the right has chosen to lead this movement, and they have a plan that they are all too happy to tell you about: Project 2025.
However, Trump has claimed to have no knowledge of the plan, or who is responsible for it. This may well be true, as Donald Trump doesn’t seem the type to sit down and read 920 pages of anything (unless you count the charges against him, but I digress). But it should be noted that the architects of Project 2025 are all people who have either worked for Trump in the past or are currently affiliated with him.
The plan’s own website claims right on its homepage that, “It is not enough for conservatives to win elections.” They claim that on January 20 of next year, a conservative will take office, which naturally evokes images of the January 6 Insurrection. The plan laid out by The Heritage Foundation describes an “army of aligned, vetted, trained, and prepared conservatives,” assuming power to “deconstruct the Administrative State.”
This plan, combined with the Supreme Court’s recent ruling that a President is immune from prosecution for “official acts,” set the stage for a Trump presidency where he is unbound by checks and balances, and can dismantle the rule of law at will. There has already been much deliberation in and out of court as to whether or not Trump can be prosecuted, and Project 2025 would firmly position Trump above the law. Every election cycle, there seems to be the narrative that ‘this is the most important election ever,’ but this time, it might well be the last election.
