Transgender girl wins homecoming princess in conservative Colorado town

Scarlett Lenh, a trans girl attending Sand Creek High School in Colorado Springs was voted homecoming princess over the weekend. Scarlett came out and began her transition at 16 years old, and has received a lot of support from her fellow students. She was crowned during the Friday night football game.

Colorado Springs is a traditionally conservative town and is the headquarters of Focus on the Family and the National Association of Evangelicals. The school however, has different values and will respect the decision made by the student body. Their policy, they say, does not exclude anyone.

Congratulations Scarlett!
