This Saturday, June 3, Mountain Pride will host its annual pride event called Pride in the Park, a day-long celebration that draws visitors from throughout the mountains of Colorado. Saturday’s celebration has a jam-packed schedule of activities designed to keep everyone interested and engaged. Numerous local organizations, businesses, and vendors participate in the celebration.
“Mountain Pride is an organization inspired and driven to serve the needs of our LGBTQ communities. LGBTQ people in rural communities face unique challenges in coming out and being out.
Meanwhile, they frequently live in communities with few or no resources for LGBTQ people. Mountain Pride is addressing these challenges by increasing year-round programming for the LGBTQ community in complement to the annual Pride in the Park. Our mission is to continuously improve the lived experience of our LGBTQ community,” organizers say in a recent press release.
The day starts off with a yoga session led by JP at 12 p.m. (BYO yoga mat) and by 1 pm launches into the focal point of the festival with a Drag show kick-off party. The stage will be jam-packed with day-long entertainment by both drag queens and musical acts. Performing at 4 p.m. is Trees Don’t Move, a Colorado band based out of Vail Valley. Headlining at 6 p.m. is G Flip, a world-renowned Australian singer and out-loud queer entertainer.
Register your fur baby for the Pawshion show, set to start at 2 p.m. Take center stage and show off your pet’s rainbow pride! Prizes will be awarded to the best-dressed pet. The day’s events will culminate in the 5 p.m. parade where festival goers will be invited to march with organizers through the scenic park while displaying their pride for the world to see.
Last year’s Pride in the Park saw over 1,000 attendees, 40-plus vendors, two unique drag shows, eight public speakers, five free family-friendly activities, and seven food trucks. This year’s Pride in the Park is promised to be bigger and better than ever.
