ThemFaire: A Market of Queer Delight Arrives This Sunday

ThemFaire will have its first vendor market this Sunday, October 20 at the Rainbow Dome. An event for and by trans and nonbinary vendors, the market will feature local artisans with a whimsical flair. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., ThemFaire will be a land of merriment, joy, and queer creations.

A play on “ren faire,” ThemFaire promises to be a fantastical day of art and creativity. According to their Instagram, they are the first Denver market centering trans and nonbinary artisans specifically. They seek to create a village of sovereign creatives and whimsical weirdos. The organizers ask for a $5 donation for attendees, but there is no purchase necessary for entry. Masks are required for the event, and costumes are encouraged.

ThemFaire was founded by trans creatives in order to celebrate trans and nonbinary artistry. Sam Kennedy (guncle_sam) organized the market alongside Rory Kennedy (That Witch Apothecary) and Sam Scharrer (toilandtrbl). Their Instagram spotlights over 40 vendors who will sell their wares this weekend. Featured artists include Frankie Anne Castanea (aka chaoticwitchaunt), Goat Witch Tattoo, and The Mythical Lair. Many vendors sell eclectic, witchy, or alternative products made by trans/nonbinary creatives. You can get anything you want here, from vintage finds to artisan candles to delicious goodies. OFM will also attend if you still need your physical copy of the October issue or books by local, queer authors.

The market will take place at the Rainbow Dome at 1660 Federal Blvd. The Rainbow Dome is a queer-centric community space. Their mission is to bring together the LGBTQ+ community through roller-skating, entertainment, and, of course, art. Co-founder Therin Zimmerman will also have a vendor booth at ThemFaire, selling their jewelry, stickers, and more.

This will be the premiere market, with future markets hopefully to come. Bring friends, and meet with other queer creatives for a merry day of art and community!
