The ultimate survival guide to Pride

PrideFest is right around the corner, and that means two full days of events, entertainment and full-on celebration. Of course, it also means standing around in the hot summer sun while still trying to look your best. To help you do just that, OFC spoke with Michael Levy, director of marketing at Grooming Lounge, to round up the best men’s grooming products that will have you covered from head-to-toe.
Equmen Core Precision Undershirt – White Singlet
This precision-fit tank top provides core support for reduced back pain, improved posture and a slimmer appearance. Made from polyester, nylon and spandex, this tough muscle shirt also keeps the body sweat-free thanks to its moisture wicking capabilities. “These shirts are great if standing around all day,” Levy said. ($89, available in black and white in a variety of different chest sizes).
Molton Brown Cool Buchu Anti-Perspirant Stick
Perfect for any day of the week, but especially for a weekend out in the sun. This refreshingly cool anti-perspirant stick features a triple-action, non-irritating formula with a refreshing summer scent. This staple item reduces pit wetness by quickly absorbing sweat, and, best of all, it doesn’t leave a nasty residue or yellow shirt stains. ($22 for a 2.6 oz. stick).
HeadBlade HeadLube Moisture Lotion SPF 30
Both a moisturizing aftershave and a powerful SPF 30 sunscreen, this moisturizing lotion protects bald domes from sun damage while keeping the head refreshed after each shave. Better yet, it leaves a matte finish, so you can enjoy the weekend shine-free. ($12 for an 8 oz. bottle).
Grooming Lounge Greatest Shave Ever “TryMe” Kit
Try all four Grooming Lounge shaving products, including the Beard Destroyer Shave Cream, in this handy “Try Me” kit. It also includes Mug Cleaner Face Wash, Beard Master Shave Oil and Best For Last Aftershave. ($25 for the kit).
Jack Black water-resistant Sunscreen
This powerful, SPF 45, oil-free sunscreen provides long-lasting protection – even during an all day sweat-fest. The non-greasy, oil-free and vitamin-enriched formula instantly absorbs into the skin and lasts for up to 80 minutes in even the most extreme conditions. It’s also vegan and dermatologist-tested. “This is the best sunscreen around,” Levy said. ($20 for a 4 oz. tube).
Dry Goods Athletic Spray Powder
This new and hugely popular product is a point-and-shoot talc and zinc oxide powder spray that keeps “the boys” and other body parts (groin, feet, buttocks) comfortable and dry all day. Use this cool, quick-drying and mess-free spray to keep wetness and chafing at bay. ($14 for a 5.4 oz. bottle).
Play it safe
While you’re busy looking hot, just be sure to take a few health tips into consideration so you can withstand two full days of partying. For starters, use sunscreen. Nothing is sure to ruin the weekend more than a painful sunburn. Plus, red and blotchy skin is never a good way to stand out in the crowd. Also, make sure to drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration and heat stroke (symptoms include dizziness, severe headache, nausea and fatigue). This is even more important for those who will be drinking alcoholic beverages. Most experts suggest drinking one glass of water for every cocktail, so it’s probably best to follow their advice on this one.
