The Dinah: Celebrating its 30th With Only the Best

The Dinah, a longtime safe haven for queer, lesbian, and nonbinary folx, will celebrate its 30th year September 29 through October 4. The Official Dinah Pre-Party will take place poolside at the Hilton Hotel in Palm Springs, California, while the Official Opening Party will take place at AsiaSF Palm Springs on September 30.

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, The Dinah will have only the best in musical entertainment, featuring artists such as Tommy Genesis, DOECHII, and St. Panther.

Tommy Genesis will perform Friday, October 1, and fans will likely hear songs from her newest album, goldilocks x. The Canadian born artist is a self-described “fetish rapper” whose lyrics challenge heteronormative and patriarchal themes of sex and sexuality.

On October 2, at the L Word-Themed Pool Party, musical artist DOECHII will be performing, whose song “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake” you’ll likely recognize from TikTok. The single has generated over 20 million streams since its release, taking the Internet by storm.

Finally, on the last day of the weekend long event, SoCal vocalist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist St. Panther will close out Dinah’s 30th celebration. Fans will likely hear songs from These Days, her debut, six-track EP. The title song is deeply personal to the artist, as she shares in the description of the track’s music video:

“These Days was written in memory of a friend lost suddenly to overdose on the night of his birthday September 24, 2019. This song is my real-time experience with re-establishing a new relationship to life in the days following through the simple act of making it to the next day. Gathering more appreciation for life as the days kept moving, the video is an ode to the week following the news as I found my way through it at home. I hope it serves as a reminder to those listening that each day is precious, and that there are still so many chapters ahead that are worth living for.”
