TERFS Have Created a Map of Trans Healthcare Providers

In a disgusting turn of events, TERFS have decided to use Google Maps’ My Map feature to pinpoint various healthcare centers and children’s hospitals in something called “The Gender Mapping Project.” The Gender Mapping Project, created by Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminists, or TERFS, claims to protect children and hold those harming them accountable. This is a disgusting idea, as the children that they are ‘protecting’ are human beings with their own thoughts, emotions, and needs, and the people supposedly ‘harming’ them are just transgender individuals trying to live their daily lives or healthcare providers attempting to help their patients.

Besides not protecting anyone at all, the map is a huge incitement for violence and is an act of terrorism. Anti-trans violence is as high as ever, with the amount of fatal anti-trans violence deaths in the U.S. being at least 31. The map also endangered trans lives globally, as there were markers in areas that are notably anti-LGBTQ. However, Google hesitated to remove the map and claimed that it wasn’t truly hurting anyone.

As of Friday, September 30, Google removed the map from My Maps, as it was a violation of their community guideline regarding the incitement of violence and hate speech. Unfortunately, the Gender Mapping Project’s website is still up and running and has been active since February 2021. It is filled with anti-trans rhetoric and propaganda, ranging from spreading lies about hormone therapy to a screenshot of the map itself.

In the past year alone, 25 anti-trans bills have been proposed, and six of them have been passed. These laws endanger trans lives by demonizing them. As the HRC states, “HRC Foundation’s “Dismantling a Culture of Violence” report demonstrates how anti-transgender stigma, denial of opportunity, and increased risk factors compound to create a culture of violence–and provides clear ways that each of us can directly make an impact to make our society a safer place for transgender and gender-nonconforming people.”
