Gov. John Hickenlooper is expected to sign into law the Colorado Civil Union Act. The new law, which will go into effect May 1, will establish most of the rights and responsibilities of marriage for same-sex couples.

Civil union bill gets inital OK from Colorado Senate committee

Its the beginning of the end for the Colorado Civil Union Act. A judiciary committee will hear testimony on the bill that is expected to be signed into law by early spring and take effect May 1.
