Stevie, Eminem’s Child, Comes Out via TikTok

Stevie

Detroit ‘Rap God’ Eminem’s (aka Marshall Mathers) child Stevie just came out as nonbinary and bisexual. The 19-year-old shared their coming out story via TikTok—very Gen Z of them.

In the video, Stevie shares past photos of themself, captioning with their dead name and using she/her pronouns. The video then transitions to present day, where they displayed photos of themself in their true form as Stevie using ‘all pronouns.’

This heartwarming coming-out story was captioned “forever growing and changing <3 #greenscreen #genderfluid #bi #life” and has now been viewed nearly 150,000 times. In the clip, captions throughout the video read “forever growing and changing” and “Watch me become more comfortable with myself.”

Their followers reacted positively to their genderfluid transitioning story and respectfully asked specific questions about their name change and coming out. One follower in particular asked about their name, saying, “I’m really interested why you chose Stevie! Could you maybe explain/team me.”

Stevie responded, “I spent so long trying to pick a name I felt comfortable with and the first time I felt comfortable with is Stevie!!”

Sister Hailie Jade and Eminem’s biological daughter shared support by liking the newly posted TikTok. Stevie’s biological mother is Eminem’s infamous ex-wife, Kim Scott. Their biological father unfortunately passed away in 2019 of an alleged overdose. Stevie was adopted by the rapper in 2015 after he reconciled with Kim.

In the past, Eminem was known for using homophobic slurs in his freestyles and rap songs. He addressed the controversial topic back in 2013, in an interview with Rolling Stone, stating he is in support of the LGBTQ community and has grown from his previous, simple-minded thoughts.

“[I’m] not saying it’s wrong or it’s right, but at this point in my career—man, I say so much shit that’s tongue-in-cheek,” he says in the interview. “I poke fun at other people, myself. But the real me sitting here right now talking to you has no issues with gay, straight, transgender, at all. I’m glad we live in a time where it’s really starting to feel like people can live their lives and express themselves. And I don’t know how else to say this; I still look at myself the same way that I did when I was battling and broke.”
