State Judge strikes down Colorado’s same-sex marriage ban
by clear hat
July 9, 2014
Adams County District Court Judge C. Scott Crabtree ruled Wednesday that Colorado’s same-sex marriage ban was unconstitutional. This was filed by a stay, to be reviewed by the Supreme Court in June of 2015 at the earliest, so same-sex marriages won’t be happening just yet.
Judge Crabtree said that the same-sex marriage ban violated due process and equal protection under the U.S. Constitution’s 14th Amendment.
This is the case brought to court by Rebecca Brinkman and Margaret Burd, whose legal battle was covered by previous Out Front articles you can find here.
