Son comes out to dad in McDonald’s commercial

A new ad from McCafé just melted queer hearts all around the world, as we watch a young gay man come out to his father with the help of a small note on a coffee cup.

The video is the third in McCafé’s “More Warmth in Conversations” campaign. It tells the story of  a tense moment between father and son. The son passes a coffee cup to his dad that reads “I like boys” and the father punches the table and walks away.

The young man is left alone, visibly distraught, but soon his father returns, jots something down on a coffee cup, and hands it to his son.

The cup reads: “I accept that you like boys.”

Which caused all of the viewers with a heart or compassion to  melt into a small puddle of complete joy. But, on the other side of humanity, The Alliance of Taiwan Religious Groups for the Protection of Family released a statement asking parents to boycott McDonald’s.

Now, even if you want to just take a leak at a McDonald’s bathroom, you can’t help but feel polluted…. [The Alliance] does not approve of the ideological stand behind the advertisement.”

“Because McDonald’s is frequented by many children, it is especially important to oppose the promotion of same-sex behavior.. [The Alliance] opposes all advertising that miseducate children on sexual behavior [and] rebukes and boycotts all enterprises that are polluting the next generation.”

You heard ’em, drop the nuggets and step away from the gay takeover of fast food.
