Simple tools for unlimited spiritual potential

When I was a young man my father would speak of “expanding my scope.” I understood that to mean that new experiences would bring me an increased ability to better deal with different situations and people that I encounter in life. Really it was about creating a greater mental equivalent. As I gained new experiences I fostered a larger picture of life and its possibilities in my mind and increased my belief in my own capabilities.
As time passed I’ve perhaps grown less inclined to venture into that expanded territory. Don’t we all get caught, even if just a little, in that idea of our limited capacity? It occurred to me this morning that when we talk in terms of ‘the only limitations we have are those we place on ourselves by embracing our limited beliefs,’ we might be looking at the wrong end of the equation. We are not so much limited by our beliefs in our limitations as we are by our lack of belief in our limitlessness. Hmmm! It is not that I believe I am small and insignificant. It is way more about not taking the time to foster a larger picture of who I am and who I am becoming; a larger mental equivalent. I, you, we are unlimited beings and individuated centers in an infinite ocean of possibilities.
The creation of the life we wish to experience has much less to do with placing limits on that life than it does in failing to picture it as the opposite – unlimited, infinite, bounded only by a failure to unleash the full scope of the imagination. So when I think in terms of expecting more in my life I must conjure up what that more looks like. Using the boundless vision of imagination we create the experience in Mind that is the highest vision we can produce. That vision is endless. And if we truly believe in this unlimited power to be drawn towards our greater mental equivalent what could possibly prevent us from making certain, daily, that we are doing the work to physically realize its fruition.
Visioning, visualization, prayer, affirmation and meditation are the simplest tools involved in activating this unlimited potential. They are such simple tools that I think sometimes we feel that they are too simple to be effective. So we put them aside and continue to live in this world where we workshop our limiting beliefs, when all along we have had the power within to embrace their opposite. Nothing – no thing – in the world can bring an end to beliefs that don’t serve us faster than embracing the opposite belief. That work couldn’t be any simpler and it never needs to be more complicated.
