Should Fans Expect a ‘Schitt’s Creek’ Reunion Soon?

Even if you didn’t watch the Super Bowl (even for the ads alone), any remotely interested Schitt’s Creek fan heard about that Nissan commercial. You know, the one with Eugene Levy zipping around in a yellow Nissan Z coupe amid A-listers like Brie Larson, Danai Gurira, and Dave Bautista.

But the real moment that had fans at first chuckling (and then seriously pondering the hidden meaning) was the cameo by actress Moir—er, Catherine O’Hara. While the pair have acted alongside each other for longer than most of us can remember, the two starring on-screen yet again (even for a minute-long commercial) had Schitt’s Creek fans jumping for joy at the possibility of a reunion.

You may remember the on-stage appearance of the Schitt’s Creek stars Dan and Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, and Annie Murphy at the 2021 Emmy awards, which gave everyone a much-needed pick-me-up during what was still peak pandemic times. Unfortunately, that’s probably the last time we should expect to see all four together for a while.

In a recent Hollywood Reporter interview, Eugene talks the 2022 Nissan ad and addresses fans’ chatter about hoping for a full-cast reunion. “There’s always been talk that there will be a get-together at some point with the cast, whether it’s a movie or a sort of special or something,” he says. “That is always going to be kept alive. But there’s nothing definitive in the foreseeable future, in the near future; let’s put it that way.”

We know—not the news anyone wants to hear. But reporting by them. does revive a conversation between Dan and Rashida Jones for a Town and Country piece last year, where Dan and Schitt’s Creek costar Annie Murphy express their hopes that a movie does eventually happen. But don’t forget that the official Schitt’s Creek book, Best Wishes, Warmest Regards, released late last year, if you somehow missed it and need something else to satisfy your content needs in the meantime.

So, while there’s nothing on which to bet money for the time being, don’t let hope for a reunion totally die; pray to the humor and movie-making gods and all that has been lucky enough to be touched by a Rose—maybe, just maybe, we’ll luck out eventually.
