Science may allow gay men to have biological children
New research has discovered a way to potentially conceive children through the use of skin cells, opening the possibility for gay men to have biological children together in the future.
Don’t get too excited, though. The experiment is still in the early stages, and this may not even be possible for humans.
Experimenting on mice, scientists were able to produce offspring while bypassing the normal process of fertilizing an egg with sperm. The result seemed to prove that sperm could successfully fuse with skin cells to create new life. Scientists also said a man could even fertilize his own cells to conceive a child that could be a blend of genes from both him and his parents.
There are still some major steps that researchers would have to take in order to make this a reality in the future.
“Will we be able to do that?” asked lead scientist Dr. Tony Perry. “I don’t know. But I think, if it is ever possible, one day in the distant future people will look back and say this is where it started.”
The discovery will likely face criticism as it completely removes the woman from the equation. This — according to a lot of close minded people — is unnatural. Hell, they didn’t even want us signing a few marriage documents, why would they want us having babies on our own? But the technique could help women also, specifically those who are unable to conceive due to issues stemming from cancer drugs or radiation.
