Same-Gender Marriage Legalized In Mexico
On Wednesday, October 26, the state of Tamaulipas voted in to allow same-gender marriage, a vote that was 23-12, with two abstentions. Tamaulipas was the last of 32 states in Mexico to legalize marriage equality. The president of Mexico’s Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, Arturo Zaldívar tweeted his happiness with the decision on the night of October 26, saying “The whole country shines with a huge rainbow. Long live the dignity and rights of all people. Love is love.”

In 2015, the Supreme Court of Mexico legalized marriage equality, making it unlawful to have any bill or legal bans. The complete legalization in Mexico came one month after Cuba legalized marriage equality and adoption equality.
Despite all of these wonderful changes happening in the world around us, marriage equality in the United States is at a massive risk. The Senate is going to vote on same-gender marriage later on this month. Tammy Baldwin said when the bill was originally postponed, “I’m still very confident that the bill will pass, but we will be taking the bill up later, after the election. We will be putting out a joint statement.”As of right now, all 50 states have marriage equality, but these rights are quickly being stripped from us with incredible speed. According to Them, “But if that bill fails to pass, only time will tell how much America’s increasingly conservative judiciary is willing to protect marriage equality.”
