Ryan Cassata Unveils Video for ‘i feel like throwing up’

Ryan Cassata

At OUT FRONT Magazine, we are pretty big fans of transgender pop-punk solo artist Ryan Cassata. In August of 2022 we interviewed the artist about his album Magic Miracle Mile and his “You Belong Tour.” Last year, we did a feature on his follow-up album, This Machine Kills Transphobia. Basically, whenever Cassata has anything new out, we’re excited about it.

Cassata has been one of the most outspoken advocates for transgender rights even at a time when transgender issues weren’t at the forefront of American political discussion. Having come out at age 13, he made a series of appearances on the talk show circuit to tell his story, including appearances on Larry King Live and The Tyra Banks Show. As a musician, he’s put out a handful of critically acclaimed albums and became the first transgender artist to play Warped Tour. He continues to find outlets to tell his story and spread the word about trans rights and acceptance.

Today, Cassata is debuting his video for his song “i feel like throwing up,” which Cassata wrote about his ongoing struggle with Lyme disease and related co-infection, but which he found a way to connect back to trans rights in the current political climate. The track is off his upcoming album Greetings from Echo Park, which is out on June 6 on legendary punk label Kill Rock Stars.

The video, which is directed by Tom Goss, is about facing the difficulties of the Trump era, and even starts with Donald Trump’s disgusting speech where he announced the policy of the United States being that there are two genders that are determined by sex, and we then see a trans youth drowning him out with a Ryan Cassata song. You also have to love the part where a queer youth is being bullied by MAGA supporters only to be saved by a transgender superhero. It’s a really fun video, and you should check it out below.

You can presave or pre-add Greetings From Echo Park here. Follow Cassata on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for future updates.
