Romi Klinger of ‘The Real L Word’ on Denver, sex and cameras
Romi Klinger, the reality TV star from The Real L-Word, is stopping in Colorado for a taste of Pride. With the recent release of her song “Oh La La,” The Real L Word’s third season set to air in July and an album not far behind, Klinger is ready to party it up at Girl Pride at City Hall June 16. The reality television phenomenon talked with OFC about her show, her not-so-private intimate life and her plans for partying with the Denverites.
What was it like having your life followed by cameras?
I think the first year is a little frightening cause you’re not sure how to act, but you just kind of get used to everybody. They become part of your day and part of your routine and, you know, it’s not an uncomfortable feeling. It doesn’t really bother me at all.
Was it harder to have sex with them around?
You know what, they’re really awesome about getting the camera people to be women. You start to build a relationship with them and they’re with you so much. For me, I’m not uncomfortable with it at all.
Did you find yourself having more or less sex because of it?
You definitely have less sex just because as comfortable as you are with it, you don’t want to be going at it like a rabbit while they’re there. I mean, it’s not the whole purpose of the show. If you find yourself at a moment that’s comfortable and it feels right, I think you go ahead and go forward with it. You don’t want to be just going all day long, you know. I hope that’s not what anyone wants to do.
From what I’ve seen of the show, you were in a relationship.
Last season I was in a relationship and we ended it.
Have you met anyone special since then?
Yeah. Definitely. You’re gonna have to stay tuned for season three and just see who I’ve met.
What would you say is the most positive thing that you have taken from being on The Real L Word?
The most positive thing would be that last season, you know, when I got sober, the cameras really had a big influence on me making that decision. So I’m pretty grateful for the show making me have to really look at myself. That’s been the biggest thing I’ve got out of it. I mean as much as you fight it and get crazy with the cameras being on you all the time and really personal issues, it sometimes does make you look at things you wouldn’t normally look at.
What would you say is the next big step you have planned after all these big projects?
Music is definitely right now. I’m working on finishing up my first record and that’s gonna be the next big chapter. That’s pretty much everything to come right now.
What spurred you to plan an appearance at Denver’s Pride? Are you looking forward to it?
I was at Aqua Girl in Miami and one of the ladies who is running Pride came up to me and asked if we were interested, and I was like, “Absolutely, we’d love to do it.” I mean Pride anywhere is fun so who misses a chance to come and party at Pride. And I’m excited because I’ve never been to Denver Pride.
What can we expect from your guest appearance?
I think I’ll be at a few events. I come in that Saturday so I’ll be there that Saturday night for the Pride festival doing pretty much whatever they have lined for me to do. I am going to be out partying with everyone. ]
