Rock n’ Roll Reveal: Mick Jagger Was Bisexual

Rock ‘n’ roll icon Mick Jagger is reported to have slept with a couple members of his band, The Rolling Stones, as well as several other people. It’s no surprise to anyone when a rock ‘n’ roll star is reported to have slept around a bit, as many have a sexually active past. Everyone knows about sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll, so why is Mick Jagger being bi such a shock?

Music biographer and journalist Lesley-Ann Jones has written a book detailing some interviews and statements from people close to Jagger titled The Stone Age. This book follows 60 years of The Rolling Stones, and “tracks this contradictory, disturbing, granitic, and unstoppable band through hope, glory, and exile, into the juggernaut years and beyond into rock’s ongoing reckoning… where the Stones seem more at odds than ever with the values and heritage against which they have always rebelled.” The description continues, “Good, bad, and often ugly, here are the Rolling Stones as never seen before.”

Within, Jones describes several instances in which Jagger displayed bisexual tendencies, as one of the first interviews regarding him with Keith Richard’s partner, Anita Pallenberg, says, “From when I first met them, I saw Mick was in love with Keith.” Pallenberg goes on to describe a “sexual undercurrent” between the men and states that she always knew the dazzling Mick Jagger was bisexual on some level.

Mick Jagger himself said in an interview regarding Mick Taylor, who was the guitarist for the Stones one time, “He was exciting, and he was very pretty, and it gave me something to follow, to bang off. Some people think that’s the best version of the band that existed.”

Beyond his flings with Richards and Taylor, Jagger also had a whirlwind romance with legendary artist David Bowie, who was a notable bi icon.
