OFM Reads: Ro Desire’s “Little Book of Quickies: Unfulfilled Desires”
Ro Desire’s Little Book of Quickies: Unfulfilled Desires is changing the narrative on traditional erotica. The author takes you through the journey of exploring deep, sexual desire in her mini-collection of 57 erotic, micro-reads. These encounters, called Quickies, are everything but the traditional sexscapade. Each infatuation, bated breath, and forbidden thought is beautifully crafted through poetic quotes intertwined with short stories.
“You are my morning brew. The coffee that wakes me … the caffeine my brain craves.” – Ro Desire
The author takes a different approach when it comes to traditional erotica and allows you to get inside the minds of the women highlighted in each piece. As queer women, the sexual narrative can often be mundane or simplistic to the public eye. Little Book of Quickies showcases the duality of sexual expression between women and the various ways we act on those desires. The language used in these stories provides the content of sexual fantasy, rather than just the description of the acts alone. The levels of intimacy vary from setting to setting and display the realities of queer sex—there is no one way to receive or give pleasure. There are a plethora of ways to give and receive pleasure, to seek intimacy, and navigate sexual exploration.
Ro showcases allowing yourself to feel, say, and do what your body desires—but your mind often holds you back from. These micro-pieces allow the reader to imagine themselves in the positions of each character. Within her arousingly captivating work, the author wants women of all orientations to tap into their unfulfilled desires. She hopes these reads stir up emotion, familiarity, and ignite conversation for any woman who has ever desired another. Be sure to be on the lookout for the next book in this series, Little Book of Quickies: Hidden Desires, which will be released summer 2021.
“She was relieved to know that her every desire, regardless of how extreme, was an interest among many women alike.” -Ro Desire
