Remembering Zachary Gramlich, Charlie’s bartender

Zachary “Zach” Gramlich died Wednesday Feb. 15 at age 30 of yet unknown causes. There were no signs of foul play. He was discovered by his roommate who called for paramedics, who were unable to revive him. A Coroner’s report is pending.

Gramlich was a popular bartender at Charlie’s for several years. According to employees, Zach was a great friend who always wanted to help. He was always involved in the employee drag show and loved dressing the part for holidays – his favorite was Halloween.

“It was a real shock to us,” said an emotional John Nelms, General Manager of Charlie’s. “One minute we heard paramedics had been called and the next minute we heard that our friend and colleague was gone. Our staff here has been shaken badly.”

Gramlich was an avid cribbage player, enjoyed classical symphony music and reading and was regularly involved in charity work. He was very dedicated to his family and was well known for his sense of humor.

Gramlich was born July 4, 1981 in Grand Junction. His father W.R. Gramlich lives in Denver. He is preceded in death by his mother, Nancy. He is survived by his father, his brother Jake, sister-in-law Melanie and niece Olivia Gramlich, all from Denver; as well as a host of friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon, March 2 at Mile High Station, 2027 W. Colfax Ave.

A Celebration of Life program will be held at 2 p.m., March 10 at Charlie’s Denver, 900 E. Colfax Ave., and is open to the public.
