Come one, come all for a returning fashion event that works to support a great cause: The Red Ball is back.
Red Ball was launched 13 years ago to spread awareness for World AIDS Day and also symbolize the impact that HIV has had on those in the fashion industry, pushing the need for further education and support of those impacted by HIV.
This year’s theme is a celebration of individuality and fashion, also incorporating video, dance, pop-up entertainment, and more. Thirteen designers and more than 70 models will walk the runway, where Red Ball says they will “represent a diverse range of work while fitting together as a cohesive, intriguing production.” Check out the full list of participating designers here.
The 13th annual event will also recognize two fashion icons, Ray Petri and Yusuka Suga, who they say reflect the intersectionality of fashion and HIV.
Petri’s life was cut short in 1989 when he died of AIDS, though his life and impact is still felt today in his embrace of radical and innovative clothing styles, especially for the time. Suga died of AIDS in 1990, but his imprint on fashion also lives on, as he is credited for creating the “wedge” haircut, worn by ice skater Dorothy Hamill in the Olympics, and he also had an array of famous clients.
Ahead of the event, Colorado Health Network is also partnering with the Triangle for their Beer Bust taking place November 7 from 4 to 8 p.m., with the event raising money and promoting the Red Ball.
The event returns Sunday, November 21 at Reelworks. Tickets are available to purchase now, and proof of COVID vaccination or a negative test are required for entry.
General admission tickets start at $35, though there are multiple tiers for those looking for seating, VIP packages, tables, and more. Check out the Colorado Health Network website to see the full list of ticket options and to purchase.
