Puff Proudly with PRIDEJAYS and know that you’re contributing to a great cause!
Higher Celebrations, a Colorado-based cannabis brand, is celebrating Pride month with an exclusive and limited release of PRIDEJAYS in Massachusetts. Higher Celebrations decided to partner with Northeast Alternatives (NEA), an award-winning, fully integrated medical and recreational cannabis dispensary chain operating in Massachusetts and Michigan, for this launch. With a focused intent on innovating the cannabis industry, Higher Celebrations seeks to deliver the highest quality product while integrating a joyous surprise into its products.

Officially launching June 1, 2023, PRIDEJAYS has received an enthusiastic reception in the MA cannabis community, with a majority of the initial run of the product being nearly sold out by mid-month. Perhaps this is due to the product itself, which is available as a one-gram pre-rolled joint, filled with top-quality NEA flower featuring an ultra-thin rainbow cone. Perhaps it’s the fact that for every PRIDEJAYS sold, a $.50 donation goes toward the Boston Chapter of Gay For Good.
Founded in 2008, Gay For Good is a nonprofit that works diligently to mobilize and support queer, trans, and allied volunteers. The mission of the organization is to strengthen ties throughout queer and queer adjacent communities. With a vision of fostering a world that is safe for all people to exist in regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression, Gay For Good sets out to build connections, promote inclusivity, and maximize the visibility of marginalized groups. Currently, there are 20 chapters across the U.S. with over 710 nonprofits served, and nearly $2.5 million in volunteered time contributed. Gay For Good welcomes volunteers in the more than 20 cities they serve.
“When you make a donation to Gay For Good, you’re going to be enabling and empowering our volunteers to find connections and build community. You’re creating visibility for the LGBTQ+ community and our allies. As a byproduct of that, you’re also effecting change for all the nonprofits that we are serving,” says Anne Friedman, the executive director for Gay For Good, when discussing the delicate partnership between a cannabis brand and a nonprofit. “This was not somebody just wanting to use our name and our brand to make themselves look good, but actually wanting to engage in a true partnership. To be able to deeply impact the work that Gay For Good could do.”

Higher Celebrations rose to cannabis acclaim with the innovation of their novelty line of BirthJays, pre-rolled cones that come as fun cake toppers for your 420-friendly birthday party. Combining a meaningful focus on challenging the stigmas aimed at the cannabis community with strategic partnerships, Higher Celebrations is quickly catching the attention of press outlets across the country.
Michael Scherr, founder, and CEO of Higher Celebrations, credits the team at NEA with developing the initial relationship with Gay For Good, and says the success of PRIDEJAYS is due, in large part, to the collaboration between the three entities. “I’ll have to start ordering more product to make sure that we have enough on hand so we don’t run out. It’s exciting!” says Scherr.
Further describing the partnership with NEA as a “no-brainer,” Scheer candidly discussed what makes the chain outshine the rest. He says the company’s focus on quality and continued commitment to de-stigmatizing cannabis makes this a symbiotic partnership. The dedicated team at NEA has produced award-winning flower, edibles, concentrates, vapes, and pre-rolls, receiving top prizes from local and national competitions such as The High Times Cannabis Cup, The Harvest Cup, and The Commonwealth Cup.
PRIDEJAYS are filled with two signature NEA strains and were launched exclusively at 20 dispensaries across Massachusetts in time to celebrate Pride. Scherr states that there are conversations circulating regarding expanding to other states; that a lot of those decisions depend on logistics and demand, but that there is definitely an intention to expand the availability of PRIDEJAYS to other states.
