Pueblo County begins issuing same-sex marriage licenses

Pueblo County Clerk Gilbert Ortiz began issuing same-sex marriage licenses Friday, with 43 licenses issued by the end of the day. He followed suit with Boulder and Denver Counties by issuing the licenses after Judge Crabtree’s decision that found Boulder County’s Clerk Hillary Hall was in the right and able to marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

“Everybody was very happy,” Ortiz said, “and it’s been awesome. When I read that ruling I realized the scales had tipped in favor of individuals’ rights to marry.”
