Project Angel Heart Announces 27th Dining Out For Life Event

Project Angel Heart

Local non-profit Project Angel Heart has announced their 27th Dining Out for Life Event. The fundraiser is to take place from April 23-May 2 and will raise money that will go towards preparing and delivering medically tailored meals to Coloradans who live with life-threatening illnesses.

The event is partnered with Denver Restaurant Week, which is occurring at the same time. In years past, restaurants participating would donate part of their sales to Project Angel Heart. However, because of the struggles restaurants have faced the past year, the fundraiser is updating how they plan to receive donations. Participating restaurants will give diners an opportunity to donate during checkout and also seek online donations from diners.

Angel Heart is accepting people to become volunteer ambassadors for the event, these ambassadors will work to get people to donate and support local restaurants participating in the event.

“Dining Out for Life brings our community together to make sure neighbors with life-threatening illnesses get the nutrition they need,” said Owen Ryan, president and CEO of Project Angel Heart. “We are grateful to partner with Visit Denver and have the continued support of our generous presenting sponsor, Bank of America.”

Project Angel Heart was founded in 1991 with the mission to give those who are ill the nutrition they need to heal. The meals are packaged and distributed free of charge by volunteers to those suffering from HIV/AIDS, kidney/heart/lung disease, cancer and more.

In 2020Project Angel Heart prepared and delivered 548,935 meals to over 3,600 Coloradans and expected to donate 550,000 meals in 2021.

Denver Restaurant week is an annual event that was originally aimed to give restaurants a boost in business during the slower winter months. However, this year the event takes on a bigger challenge of supporting an industry that has been decimated by the Covid-19 pandemic. Restaurants are to prepare a multi-course dinner with the price point of either $25, $35, or $45.
