Pride Recap: Denver PrideFest 2022 Was a Blast!
Denver PrideFest was the place to be this Pride Month! It’s an incredibly fun event, but it also set a new record last month. Throughout the two-day festival, more than 535,00 people attended PrideFest—That’s over half a million humans, y’all! PrideFest also raised $1 million for The Center on Colfax.
The Center on Colfax is an LGBTQ community center that aims to engage, empower, enrich, and advance the LGBTQ community in Colorado. They do so by contributing to statewide initiatives to reduce sexual harassment and discrimination, preserving LGBTQ history, cultivating safe spaces, as well as offering and creating programs and resources that greatly benefit the LGBTQ community.
Denver PrideFest is The Center’s largest fundraiser, and this year shows that with the $1 million raised in just the two days of the PrideFest festival. Raising $1 million in the span of two days exemplifies just how much Denver shows up for the LGBTQ community and how much we show up for each other.
Denver PrideFest is not only a meaningful fundraiser but a designated place to let loose, be queer, and enjoy ourselves and each other’s company. This year’s lineup of DJs and performers did just that. Betty Who, an Australian pop singer, headlined the event. Many were eager to see her take the stage, and she did not disappoint.
RuPaul’s Drag Race alums Yvie Oddly, Silky Nutmeg Ganache, and Kylie Sonique Love also graced the Denver PrideFest stage. Yvie Oddly is from Denver, so her performance acted as a full-circle moment. Oddly’s performance was all you could expect and more and made festival-goers feel seen as she pushed through her Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and carried out her performance.
There was something for everyone there, whether it was a specific DJ, a performer, the booths present, or the celebration itself. Festival-goers and performers shared their experiences all over social media at this year’s PrideFest.
We can’t wait to see you all next year!
